Anoka

Town and administrative headquarters of Anoka County, southeast Minnesota, USA; population (1990) 17,200. A suburb 29 km/18 mi northwest of Minneapolis, it is located at the point where the Rum River joins the Mississippi River. Formerly a trading centre for an agricultural region, it has experienced a boom in residential and commercial development over recent decades, lying in the Twin Cities–St Cloud corridor.
