Atypical antipsychotic agents have shown promise because of their apparent lack of EPS; however, some can present other problems for the elderly patient. Neuroleptic drugs, also known as antipsychotic agents, are among the most commonly prescribed medications in the United States, used by up to 3 million people annually. Additional studies will further investigate once-a-day-dosing, demonstrate a favorable safety profile when switching from other antipsychotic agents to iloperidone, and support the competitive profile of the compound. |
