Apache Junction

Apache Junction

Town in Pinal and Maricopa counties, south-central Arizona, USA; population (1990) 18,100. It is a suburb 42 km/26 mi southeast of Phoenix. Originally a travellers' rest stop, the community is a recreational centre and gateway to the Salt River Canyon and Tonto National Forest. The Superstition Mountains are to the east.
