Apeldoorn

Commercial city in Gelderland province, east central Netherlands, 27 km/17 mi northeast of Arnhem; population (2006 est) 156,100. Industries include metallurgy, papermaking, textiles, computer manufacture, and chemicals. Het Loo, which is situated nearby, has been the summer residence of the Dutch royal family since the time of William of Orange.
