aphrodisiac

Any substance that arouses or increases sexual desire.

Sexual activity can be stimulated in humans and animals by drugs affecting the pituitary gland. Preparations commonly sold for the purpose can be dangerous (cantharidin) or useless (rhinoceros horn); alcohol and marijuana, popularly thought to be effective because they lessen inhibition, often have the opposite effect.
