Apollonius Dyscolus

Apollonius Dyscolus (lived 2nd century AD)

Greek grammarian of the Alexandrian school. His four surviving works, On Syntax, On Pronouns, On Conjunctions, and On Adverbs, show his significant early attempts using the eight word classes of Dionysius Thrax to tackle questions of syntax such as word order and agreement.

His son, Aelius Herodianus, wrote on Greek punctuation and accentuation.
