Aponogeton

Aponogeton

The only genus of the Aponogetonaceae family of aquatic plants. There are about 30 species, mostly tropical and South African. A. distachyos, Cape pondweed or water hawthorn, is grown as a water plant in ponds and aquariums; A. fenestra, the lace leaf or lattice leaf of Madagascar, is grown in tropical fish tanks.
