Appomattox Court House

Former town in Virginia, USA, scene of the surrender on 9 April 1865 of the Confederate army under Robert E Lee to the Union army under Ulysses S Grant, which ended the American Civil War.

The house where the surrender was signed is now a museum, 5 km/3 mi from the modern town of Appomattox.
