Aquincum

Ancient Roman town, situated near the present city of Budapest, Hungary. By the 3rd century AD, Aquincum had become the capital of Lower Pannonia, and Valentinian II was proclaimed emperor here 375. The extensive ruins, standing beside the Budapest–Vienna road, have been excavated, and there is a museum on the site.
