Arafura SeaArea of the Pacific Ocean between northern Australia and Indonesia, bounded by the Timor Sea in the west and the Coral Sea, via the Torres Strait, in the east; 1,290 km/800 mi long and 560 km/350 mi wide. It lies on the Arafura Shelf, and is 50–80 m/165–265 ft deep. The Indonesian Aru islands lie to the north. To the northwest, the Aru Trough (3,650 m/12,000 ft deep) separates the Arafura Sea from the Banda Sea. How to thank TFD for its existence?
