Araiza, Francisco (1950– )

Mexican tenor. He sang in concert and oratorio from 1968, and in 1973 was heard as Massenet's Des Grieux and Rodolfo in Mexico City. His European debut was in Karlsruhe, in 1974, and he has since appeared in Munich, Salzburg, Aix, London, and Vienna; he has been successful in operas by Mozart, Massenet, and Donizetti, and as Gounod's Faust. He made his US debut in 1983, in Cenerentola at San Francisco, and sang Lohengrin at Venice in 1990.
