Arbuckle, Fatty

    0.02 sec.

Arbuckle, Fatty (1887–1933)

US silent-film actor, writer and director. A successful comic actor, Arbuckle worked with the likes of Mack Sennett and Buster Keaton, and appeared in such films as The Butcher Boy (1917), Fatty at Coney Island (1917), and The Hayseed (1919).

In 1921 his film career was brought to a premature halt by a sex scandal. He was charged with the manslaughter of Virginia Rappe who had died shortly after her alleged rape by Arbuckle during a party he was hosting. Although eventually acquitted, Arbuckle was unable to find steady work in the film industry again.
