Precambrian eraIn geology, the time from the formation of the Earth (4.6 billion years ago) up to 570 million years ago. Its boundary with the succeeding Cambrian period marks the time when animals first developed hard outer parts (exoskeletons) and so left abundant fossil remains. It comprises about 85% of geological time and is divided into two eons: the Archaean and the Proterozoic. How to thank TFD for its existence?
