Arenaria

Genus of plants of the campion family Caryophyllaceae, comprising about 160 species. It is most common in the northern temperate zone to the Arctic. Species include A. serpyllifolia, thyme-leaved sandwort; A. ciliata, Irish sandwort; A. norvegica, Norwegian sandwort; A. norvegica, Arctic sandwort, found in Britain, Iceland, and Scandinavia. A. graminifolia and A. montana may be grown in gardens.
