Having successfully put a payload in space, it must now compete in a market in which one company, France's Arianespace, controls more than half the business. The board looking into the latest disaster has submitted a list of 14 recommendations, including alteration and requalification of the third-stage igniter, though one Arianespace official acknowledges that the cause of the previous failure is now less certain. Launched by Arianespace from their Kourou Spaceport, and built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, AMC-18 is the thirteenth A2100 spacecraft in the AMERICOM fleet. |
