Arlington Heights

Town in Cook County, northeast Illinois, USA; population (1990) 75,500. It is situated 40 km/25 mi northwest of Chicago. Founded in 1836, it was once an area of dairy and truck farms, and is now largely occupied by suburban residential subdivisions. There are also research facilities and light industries. Arlington International Racecourse is located here. O'Hare International Airport is 8 km/5 mi to the southwest.
