Armagnac, Bernard VII, Count Armagnac

    0.06 sec.

Armagnac, Bernard VII, Count Armagnac (died 1418)

French noble. He took the family of Armagnac into the faction that was opposed to the Burgundians in the French civil war of 1410–35. In 1410 Bernard VII married his daughter to the young duke Charles of Orléans, and henceforth was the head of the Orléans, or Armagnac (aristocratic), party. The struggle of the rival parties was ended 1435 by the Treaty of Arras, when the Burgundian court was reunited to that of France.
