Arminio

Opera by Handel (libretto by A Salvi), first produced at Covent Garden, London, England, on 12 January 1737. The story describes how the rebel chieftain Arminius defeats the Romans in spite of a love subplot.

It is also the title of two operas by Johann Hasse: I. (libretto by G C Pasquini), first produced before the court in Dresden, Germany, on 7 October 1745; II. (libretto by Salvi), first produced in Milan, Italy, on 28 August 1730.

A further opera on the same theme by Alessandro Scarlatti (libretto by Salvi) was first produced at the Villa Medici, Pratolino, Italy, in September 1703.
