Arnim, Bettina von (1785–1859)

German writer, sister of Clemens Brentano. She married the writer Ludwig Achim von Arnim (1811). Her publication Goethes Briefwechsel mit einem Kinde/Goethe's Correspondence with a Child 1835 purported to be a collection of correspondence between herself and Goethe, but was later proved to be largely fictitious.

She also wrote on political and social questions.
