Arnim, Hans Georg von

Arnim (or Arnheim), Hans Georg von (1581-1641)

German soldier. He served in the Swedish army under Gustavus Adolphus 1613, and in the Polish army, and in 1626 entered the service of the German emperor in the Thirty Years' War, under General Wallenstein. In 1630 he left to serve the Elector of Saxony, and commanded part of his army at Breitenfeld 1632. He took part in the negotiations between the Elector and Wallenstein 1633-34; and defeated the Imperialists under Colloredo at Liegnitz 1634.

He died at Dresden while leading the Imperial and Saxon forces against the French and the Swedes.
