Arnim, Ludwig Achim von

    0.09 sec.

Arnim, Ludwig Achim von (1781-1831)

German Romantic poet and novelist. He wrote short stories, a romance Armut, Schuld und Busse der Gräfin Dolores/Countess Dolores (1810), and plays, but left the historical novel Die Kronenwächter (1817) unfinished. With Clemens Brentano he collected the German folk songs in Des Knaben Wunderhorn/The Boy's Magic Horn (1805-08), several of which were set to music by Mahler.

Other works by Arnim include the dramatic romance Halle und Jerusalem/Rumbling and Jerusalem (1811) and Isabella von Aegypten/Isabella of Egypt (1812).
