Arpino

Town in Lazio region, west-central Italy, situated on a hill 18 km/11 mi east of Frosinone; population (1990 est) 8,000. Originally a Volsci town in ancient times, it later fell to the Samnites, and eventually became subject to Rome. Marcus Tullius Cicero and Gaius Marius were born here.
