Arteaga, Esteban (1747–1799)

Spanish scholar. He was a Jesuit priest, but after the suppression of the Order went to Italy, where he worked for many years with Padre Martini in Bologna. Five treatises on music survive, the most important of them being that on opera, Rivoluzioni del teatro musicale italiano, published 1733–38.
