Asam (lived 18th century)

Family of German baroque artists and decorators. They included Hans Georg (d. 1696), whose work consisted of frescoes and oil-paintings, and his two sons Cosmas Damian (c. 1686-1742), a painter, and Aegidius Quirinus (d. 1746), a sculptor.

They worked together on the churches of Innsbruck, Munich, Schleissheim, and Mannheim, producing illusionistic and ornamental work in Italian high baroque manner. Cosmo Damian's two sons, Franz Erasmus (1720-1794) and Engelbrecht, were both painters.
