ascariasis

In medicine, infection by the roundworm Ascaris lumbricoides, an intestinal parasite in humans and other mammals. Access to safe water and sanitation facilities, and improved hygiene practice are key factors in the attempts to fight this disease, according to the World Health Organization.

Ascaris lumbricoides can reach 25 cm in length.
