Asch, Moses (‘Moe’) (1905-1986)

Polish-born record producer. Asch founded Asch Records in 1939, releasing records by folk singers and jazz musicians such as Burl Ives and Coleman Hawkins. He established Folkways Records with Marion Distler in 1948, and the label attracted many artists from a variety of musical backgrounds.
