Ashdown House

17th-century house in Oxfordshire, England, 12 km/7 mi east of Swindon. It was given to the National Trust in 1956 by Cornelia, Countess of Craven, whose ancestor, the 1st Lord Craven, built the house for Elizabeth of Bohemia in 1665.

The house is of unusual design, and is constructed of chalk blocks with stone quoins (dressed corner-stones). It is four storeys high, and crowned by a cupola (dome) with a golden ball.
