Asher, Jane (1946– )

English actor and writer. Following her film debut in Mandy (1952), her screen and theatre appearances have included the films Alfie (1966) and Paris by Night (1989), the television dramas Brideshead Revisited (1981) and The Choir (1995), and the West End and Broadway productions of The Philanthropist. She has written numerous books, mainly on cookery, and also runs Jane Asher Party Cakes.

Asher was born in London. She appeared in Mandy at the age of five, and continued acting as a child. Other film performances include The Greengage Summer (1961), The Prince and the Pauper (1962), The Winter's Tale (1968), and Henry VIII and His Six Wives (1972); she also starred in the television series Wish Me Luck (1988–90).
