ashram

Indian community whose members lead a simple life of discipline and self-denial and devote themselves to social service. Noted ashrams are those founded by Mahatma Gandhi at Wardha (near Nagpur, Maharashtra state) and poet Rabindranath Tagore at Santiniketan.
