Ashtabula County

County in northeast Ohio, USA; area 1,821 sq km/703 sq mi; population (1990) 99,800. It is bounded by Lake Erie to the north and Pennsylvania to the east, and is intersected by the Ashtabula and Grand rivers. The Pymatuning Reservoir lies partially in the county. Its administrative headquarters is Jefferson. There is manufacturing at Ashtabula and Conneaut, and the rest of the county is largely agricultural (dairy, fruit, grain, hay, livestock, and truck). There are apiaries, greenhouses, and wineries.
