Asian Development Bank

Bank founded in 1966 to stimulate growth in Asia and Pacific region by administering direct loans and technical assistance. In 2007 there were 67 member countries (48 regional and 19 non-regional). The headquarters are in Manila, Philippines.

Japan played a leading role in the setting-up of the ADB, which was established under the aegis of the United Nations Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
