Askeaton

Small market town in County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, situated on the River Deel; population (2002) 1,600 (Askeaton East and Askeaton West). Industries include the manufacture of baby-food products, insulating and packaging material, and alumina extraction. There are three 15th-century ruins here: Desmond Castle (which stands on a small island in the river), Askeaton Franciscan friary, and the Augustinian priory of St Mary.

Sgt Vincent McCoy of Askeaton Garda station said: "On Saturday, the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy, carried out a postmortem at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital and the findings were not consistent with a natural death.
The son of Tucks Mein and Lethal Claudia is trained in Askeaton by James Roche for Limerick born, Dublin based publican Larry O'Shea and both men are now planning a challenge for the Cashmans Bookmakers Irish Laurels at Cork.
The evidence came in the trial of Niall Shannon, 21, who denies dangerous driving causing the deaths of the Garda Brian Kelleher and fireman Michael Liston at Barrigone, Askeaton, Co Limerick, in February 2007.
