Aspinall, John Audley Frederick (1851–1937)

English mechanical engineer. While general manager and chief mechanical engineer of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway 1899–1919, he designed many types of locomotive and completed one of the first main line railway electrification schemes in Great Britain, from Liverpool to Southport (1904).

Aspinall was born in Liverpool, and was originally employed on the railways as a locomotive fireman.
