Assiniboine

River in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, southern Canada; length about 1,070 km/665 mi. It rises in southeast Saskatchewan and joins the Red River of the North at Winnipeg. Its tributaries are the Little Souris, Qu'Appelle, Rapid, White Sand, and Beaver Creek. An American Indian people gave their name to the river.
