Aston, Hugh (c. 1480–1558)
| English composer. He completed his studies at Oxford in 1510, and was choirmaster at Newarke College, Leicester, 1525–48. His works include six votive antiphons, two Masses, and a ‘Hornepype’ for keyboard. There are works on a ground bass of his by Whytbroke (for viols) and Byrd (for keyboard). |
