Atget, Eugène (1857–1927)
| French photographer. He took up photography at the age of 40, and for 30 years documented urban Paris in some 10,000 images. His photographs were sometimes used by painters and he was admired by the Surrealists. After his death his work was rescued and promoted by the photographer Berenice Abbott. |
