Atlantic Beach

Town in Duval County, northeast Florida, USA; population (1990) 11,600. It is situated 24 km/15 mi east of Jacksonville's city centre, on the Atlantic Ocean, 8 km/5 mi south of the mouth of the St Johns River. The north end of a 72 km/45 mi–long stretch of beachfront resorts, it has long been a popular vacation site; it is adjacent to another resort community, Neptune Beach.

Community in Hempstead town, Nassau County, southeast New York, USA; population (1990) 1,900. It is situated on a barrier island – Long Beach Island – off the south shore of Long Island, across Rockaway Channel from Far Rockaway, Queens. A residential community, it has a number of beach clubs along its waterfront.
