Auburn Hills

Town in Oakland County, southeast Michigan, USA; population (1990) 17,100. It is situated 5 km/3 mi east of Pontiac and 40 km/25 mi northeast of Detroit city centre. In the 1980s and 1990s it emerged as an important corporate office centre; Chrysler moved its headquarters here in the early 1990s. It is also the site of the Palace of Auburn Hills (1988), home of the Detroit Pistons basketball team.
