Auchtermuchty

Town and former royal burgh in Fife unitary authority, Scotland, 15 km/9 mi from Cupar; population (2001) 2,010. Engineering is the principal industry.

It is the native town of John Glas (1695–1773), founder of the Glassites in 1725, a religious sect believing in self-government and adherence to simple gospel practice.
