Augustales

In Roman times, a college of priests, established by the emperor Tiberius, concerned originally with the worship of the deified emperor Augustus. In Rome, the college had 21 members selected from the Roman nobility and certain members of the imperial family. In the Italian and provincial cities the colleges were usually composed of wealthy freedmen.

Augustales

In ancient Rome and other parts of the Roman empire, games (ludi Augustales) held in honour of the emperor Augustus. By a decree of the Senate 11 BC they were celebrated annually on his birthday (23 September).
