Ausdruckstanz

Modern dance form which reached its peak of creativity during the 1920s. It emphasized intuitive and individual approaches over formal technique and virtuosity. The movement pioneered community dance and the use of improvisation in teaching. Its main exponents were Rudolf von Laban, Mary Wigman, and Kurt Jooss.
