Austin, Larry (1930- )

US composer. He studied in California with Darius Milhaud and Seymour Shifrin and taught at the University of South Florida and North Texas State University (from 1978). His works employ a full range of electronic effects and are cast for a variety of theatrical media.

Improvisations, for orchestra and jazz soloists (1961); Phantasmagoria, after Ives's unfinished Universe symphony (1982); Sinfonia Concertante: A Mozartean Episode (1986); Concertante Cybernetica (1987).

Theatre pieces

The Maze (1967), Agape (1970), Walter (1971).
