Avenal

Town in Kings County, west-central California, USA; population (1990) 9,800. It is situated 85 km/53 mi southwest of Fresno in the Kettleman Plain, to the west of the Kettleman Hills. It is an oilfield supply centre and home to oil and agricultural workers.
