Avoca

Village in County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland, on the River Avoca; population (2002) 770. Avoca Mill (founded in 1723) still produces wool and knitwear.

Nearby are Castle Howard and Tom Moore's tree, where the poet Thomas Moore is reputed to have spent time in contemplation. There is also the Motte Stone, a large, glacially formed granite boulder.
