Avon Lake

Town in Lorain County, northeast Ohio, USA; population (1990) 15,100. It is situated on Lake Erie, 29 km/18 mi west of Cleveland. The beaches on the lakefront are a major attraction to visitors. Local industry centres on a Ford minivan plant and factories producing plastics and aluminium castings.
