Axthelm, Walther von (1893-1961)

German Luftwaffe general in World War II. He was appointed inspector general of anti-aircraft artillery 1942, with considerable responsibility for the air defences of Germany. In 1944 he was in overall command of the V-1 ‘flying bomb’ campaign against Britain.
