Aksum

Ancient Greek-influenced Semitic kingdom that flourished in the 1st-6th centuries AD and covered a large part of modern Ethiopia as well as the Sudan. The ruins of its capital, also called Aksum, lie northwest of Ādwa, but the site has been developed as a modern city.
