Ayers RockVast ovate mass of pinkish sandstone rock in Northern Territory, Australia; 335 m/1,110 ft high and 9 km/6 mi around. It lies within the Ayers Rock-Mount Olga National Park and is famed for its stark rise from the surrounding land and for the striking orange-red colour which it assumes at sunset.
