Ayrshire| Breed of hardy dairy cattle originating in the former county of Ayrshire, Scotland, in the latter part of the 18th century and considered to be the only special dairy breed to have originated in the British Isles. Their body colour ranges from almost pure white to almost all cherry red or brown. They are found worldwide. Their beef quality is of secondary importance. |
