Azusa

Town in Los Angeles County, southwest California, USA; population (1990) 41,300. It is situated to the south of San Gabriel Canyon, on the San Gabriel River, and 32 km/20 mi northeast of Los Angeles. Founded in 1887, it is a gateway to recreational facilities in the San Gabriel Mountains. Once a citrus and avocado handling centre, it now manufactures a wide range of aerospace, chemical, consumer, and other products. It is home to Azusa Pacific University (1899).
